Dr. Samuel Smiles, a great literay figure of the 2oth century, said that man is born not for his own good but for the good of others. It is this basic reality that binds a man to a man and a nation to a nation and creates a feeling of love and sympathy. While love is a strong and absorbing feeling, sympathy in short, is the capacity of feeling for the sufferings of others. It is to go out of one's own self and occupy the personality of a poor man to know what poverty means. It is to go out of one's own self and occupy the personality of an orphan to know what it means to be an orphan. well, such human passions have produced a race of philanthrophists who rise and serve the human cause as their fundamental duty.

Another human virtue is “Giving”. Giving is a great act of charity. Give service, give money, give any little thing you have. If you have nothing else to give, give at least hope and confidence; because giving is the culture of the Muslim character and believe me, true happiness comes only from giving. Besides, Islam whose running theme is humanity and the whole of humanity, promotes the concept of charity and advocates good spending for the charitable causes and precisely for this reason, many charitable organizations have come into existence and render yoeman’s service to the poor, deserving and needy.

The Crescent Welfare Association is one such charitable organization established on 23rd June 1985 and is actively engaged in the upliftment of the poor and the downtrodden. The history of the Association has been the history of its 30 long years of useful activity . It proudly looks back upon its record with justifiable pride and satisfaction and looks ahead with robust optimism.
